The specialized knowledge acquired during undergraduate studies allows for employment in the economic and non-economic sectors, public administration, or various non-profit organizations and the public sector.
Bank Analyst
A bank analyst studies and analyzes financial data in banks and helps manage credit and investment risks. Their tasks include assessing the creditworthiness of clients, preparing reports on the financial status of companies and individuals, and monitoring trends in financial markets. They also contribute to the development of banking products and the optimization of the bank’s operations.
Financial Forensic Analyst
A financial forensic analyst investigates financial fraud, analyzes data, and uncovers irregularities in transactions. These specialists work in companies, audit firms, governmental bodies such as the police and tax authorities, and financial institutions. Their work is crucial in preventing crimes such as money laundering, tax evasion, and embezzlement.
Insurance Agent
An insurance agent analyzes clients’ insurance needs and advises on suitable products. They prepare offers, assess risks, and manage claims and payouts. Their work also includes monitoring market trends and seeking opportunities to improve the insurance company’s offerings and services.

Updated Curriculum
Starting in the 2024/25 academic year, the curriculum has been updated to offer current content addressing changes in the business environment and responding to labor market needs. The new courses better equip students with modern knowledge and prepare them for entering the job market.
Students learn about the fundamentals of digital currencies, their impact on financial markets, security risks, and legal regulation. They explore blockchain technology, cryptography, and financial instruments associated with cryptocurrencies, including analysis of ICOs, security risks, and the use of blockchain forensics.
This course covers the basics of forensics, exploring various types of financial fraud, including bribery, corruption, and money laundering. Students will learn fraud detection methods and apply mathematical and statistical approaches. The course also covers fraud prevention strategies and forensic reporting.
Participants will learn the history of AI, key types like machine learning and neural networks, and when simpler models are more effective than complex ones. The course emphasizes generative models, such as generative adversarial networks, and creating effective AI system prompts. It also discusses AI limitations, job impacts, and business opportunities.
This course explores the intersection of the digital economy and sustainability principles, focusing on the impact of digitalization on environmental responsibility. Topics include green IT, sustainable supply chains, and circular economy models, with case studies and the development of innovative solutions for sustainable business in the digital age.
This course provides an in-depth look at key concepts and technologies transforming modern companies. Students will explore digital transformation, Industry 4.0, and the role of mobile apps and technologies such as AI and blockchain in improving business operations. They will also learn about digital business models and disruptive innovations, preparing them to develop successful strategies for digital business and understanding how digital technologies create value and competitiveness in a dynamic business environment.

Graduates of the Economics in Contemporary Society program can take on roles that require economic, business, and other knowledge important for understanding the functioning of the economy, business environments, and managing business processes. They are qualified to work as bank and financial analysts, financial forensic experts, stock analysts, insurance agents, and in positions within public administration that require higher analytical skills (Bank of Slovenia, Umar, Ministry of Economy, SURS).
Economy in Contemporary Society is a university program, while Business in Contemporary Society is a higher vocational study program. The difference lies in the admission requirements, curriculum, and professional title upon graduation.
